Hi, I’m Carol, owner of Carol Shepherd Fine Art. Based in Northwest Indiana near the shores of Lake Michigan and a stone’s throw from Indiana Dunes National Park.
My mission is to create art that inspires us all to look for the joy in our lives through noticing those “glimmer moments” we all can find if we just look for them.
I paint from my cozy home studio in Chesterton, Indiana, USA, where I juggle busy days with my husband and two poodles. When I’m not painting, you’ll find me running our little BnB, working in our gardens or enjoying our national park’s beautiful trails and shorelines located minutes from home.
Watercolor has been my focus for most of my life, but after retirement, I taught myself, digital art, and illustration (Children’s book coming soon). My most recent interest has been in using acrylics as they lend themselves to the bright and yummy colors found in the joyful paintings I love to create. Sometime soon, I will be trying out oils as a medium - stay tuned.

"Glimmer Moments"
Those small, joyful, or inspiring moments from everyday life that lift your mood. Opposite of stress triggers, “glimmers” can be found in things like a blooming flower, a surprise in nature, or a happy memory. I hope my art encourages you to notice these gifts in your own life.
"Optical Blending"
Optical blending: is a method of painting where, laying the colors down, side by side rather than blending them together, creates a phenomenon where the human eye perceives a single, cohesive color from a distance. The creates a more vibrant, luminous, and higher intensity color than physical mixing, as colors retain their brilliance.
